I was well into my twenties before I would even consider eating a salad. My love for healthy foods only began about seven years ago. Before then you couldn’t force me to eat anything green other than fried okra or butter beans. Shockingly, in the south we consider those as your healthy portion of vegetables for the day (laughingly cries in cornbread tears). Other than those two green(ish) delicacies I thought if it was green, it was gross.
I now know that green usually means delicious, but I know that’s not the case with everyone (especially small children). Whether you’re trying to incorporate more greens into your daily life or your taste buds don’t dig the taste of green just yet, this smoothie is a great way to get your daily dose. It’s packed with whole ingredients and energizing fuel.
This is one of our go to smoothies in the morning. If you don’t have time to make breakfast or you are trying to kick a coffee habit I recommend giving her a try. The coconut water is high in electrolytes to help rehydrate and charge the body after sleeping. Spirulina and turmeric are high in antioxidants and work as an anti-inflammatory. Ginger acts as an anti-viral helping to boost the immune system.
